"THE GOD WHO CREATED KERALA MUST HAVE HAD A GREEN THUMB" - local saying
If you have always wished to see a faraway land where culture, traditions, and lifestyle are uniquely different from yours, the chances are that you have wished to see India too: a country not only large in geographical area and population but also on diversity. India is a melting pot of age-old cultures, languages and once a world-leader on the matters of spirituality.
This time, we have created a yoga travel retreat in a state in the south of India, Kerala, also called as ‘God’s Own Country’ due to its heavenly scenic beauty. Rare are lands that have been blessed with such abundant nature, rich culture, colorful festivals, diverse flora and fauna, breathtaking temples, mosques, and churches and so much more, hence the glorious title.
Catalina and I have spent a lot of time travelling in Kerala when we were living in India. Out of all the places we explored, we have carefully chosen a few destinations that are worth showing to the world. These destinations are chosen in such a way that we will explore mountains, backwaters, village-life, festivals, traditional dances and cuisines that your taste bud has never imagined those flavors before.
A few hundred years ago, the whole Europe was interested in Kerala due to its spices. Pepper trade drew sea traffic and many violent conflicts. In 1498, a Portugese explorer, Vasco da Gama, the first Europen, reached one of the shores of Kerala. When the king of Malabar asked him for the purpose of his voyage, Vasco da Gama replied, “we are here in search of Christians and spices”.
Kerala also makes India world’s leading producer of coffee. Due to the grand tea plantations in Kerala, India is the second highest producer of tea in the world. So, naturally, we will take trips through the spice, tea, and coffee plantations and learn a thing or two about their productions.
Kerala is famous for yoga and ayurveda. We will do yoga every morning, at different locations, often facing the sea, or the range of hills, or facing the famous backwaters of Kerala. We will also get ayurvedic massage for rejuvenation.
Island trips, temple visits, backwater trips, and much more is waiting for you. Are you coming?
Highlights:
Try authentic Fish cuisines and much more.
